General Viewing Information

EGNtv transmits video to your computer by sending data over the internet. The video quality that you receive depends on a variety of factors including the speed of your internet connection as well as possible congestion on the internet between your location and ours. It is recommended that you close other applications on your computer that may use your internet connection when watching EGNtv.

For the best audio and video quality, a broadband internet connection (like DSL or Cable) is recommended. You can also customize your connection speed settings by signing in and clicking 'My Preferences'. Internet congestion can occasionally result in loss of quality or cause the broadcast to stop. If this occurs while watching EGNtv, press F5 or click the refresh button in your web browser. If the problem is still not resolved, wait a minute or two and try again.

Video Problems

No Picture

Please make sure you have the correct software installed for watching EGNtv (see above). Also note that when you click to watch EGNtv, it may take up to 30 seconds before the video appears under some conditions.

Blurry or Blocky Picture / Green Squares

This problem is caused by a slow internet connection or congestion on the internet. Internet congestion may go away after a short period of time (see above).

Upside-down Picture / Green Picture

This is a known problem with Windows Media Player and certain combinations of video cards and graphics drivers. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to fix it for you, but the following steps will usually eliminate this problem:

  1. Right-click on your computer's desktop, and choose "Properties". This will open a window titled "Display Properties.
  2. At the top of the Display Properties window, click on the tab titled "Settings".
  3. Near the bottom of the window, click on the button labeled "Advanced".
  4. On the new windows that opens, click on the tab titled "Troubleshoot".
  5. You should see a slider labled "Hardware acceleration". Move this slider one notch to the left.
  6. Click OK on each window to close them. Then restart your computer or close your web browser completely, and log back in to EGNtv.com
  7. If the problem persists, you should repeat the above steps, moving the Hardware acceleration slider one more notch to the left.

This procedure may not work under all circumstances. If we discover more information, we will post it here. If you are able to correct the problem, you may be able to move the Hardware acceleration slider back to it's former position.

If you are using Windows Media Player 10, this hotfix from Microsoft may help. More information can be found here.

Audio Problems

No Sound

Internet connection or congestion problems can occasionaly lead to loss of audio, or we may be experiencing technical problems at our location. Please wait a few moments to see if the problem persists.

Low Volume

If the volume seems to low, please make sure that your computer's volume controls are turned up. Most computers have an audio mixer with several different controls that can affect the volume level. Your audio mixer may appear as a small speaker icon near the computer's clock on your screen. Double-click this icon and adjust the various sliders to see if you can increase the audio volume. Note that most computer speakers also have a volume control knob that can be turned up.

Other

If you experience "echoing" in the audio, please make sure that you have only one instance of EGNtv open in your web browser.
